Dead in the Face on Myspace
In June of 2003, brothers Jason Hildebrand (guitar – ex-Hazarax, ex-Cemetery Earth, ex-Funeral Mask) and Justin Hildebrand (drums – ex-Heidnik, Witness to the End) wanted to create a new band to crank out some extreme metal. Early Napalm Death-style grindcore was the basic influence, with some Boltthrower/Autopsy-style Death Metal thrown in for good measure. That’s what we grew up listening to, that’s what fueled our fire to create.
After one rehearsal, guitarist-turned-bassist Ron Wojcik (ex-Hazarax, ex-Cemetery Earth, ex-Funeral Mask) was brought in. The first demo ‘Crush ‘Em All’ was recorded with Jason and Justin providing vocals in the studio. Vocalist Mike Trush (ex-Deteriorate) was brought in shortly thereafter. The next two years were spent sharpening the live assault and writing more material along the way. In 2005, the second demo ‘Refuse to Obey’ was released. Justin leaves the band being replaced by Russ Gale (ex-Hazarax) on drums. This line-up lasted for almost a year when Mike and Russ split.
In 2006 drummer Dan Brown and vocalist Joe Rakowski joined up. This re-vamped version of DitF spent most of 2007 rehearsing and gigging around. The full-length ‘Hammer Rage’ was released in Dec. ‘07.
In 2009 we signed to CONCRETE UMBRELLA records! Between May and July, Dan Brown and Joe Rakowski left. Witness to the End members Justin Hildebrand (drums) and John Williams (vox) were brought BACK into the fold! We couldn’t be more stoked! This marks a return to the original writing core, and the main focus is now – NEW material!
These are all steps forward for a band who REFUSES to quit and who are above all… FANS OF EXTREME METAL!!
